Student Wellbeing

The life journey to self knowledge that each of us undertakes is unique. Adolescence is a significant stage in that life journey and Pastoral Care in the College is one way that we work to assist students on the journey - one way we hope that we can assist students to know themselves more.

Pastoral Care is the term schools use to describe the beliefs, policies and programs that underpin our total care of each student.

The term "pastoral care" comes from the image of Jesus as shepherd - Jesus said "I know my sheep and my sheep know me". (John 10:10). It is an image of persisting love and care.

Pastoral Care brings together all aspects of school life - academic, social, physical and spiritual. At its centre is quality relationships. Programs are in place to assist each girl to develop into the best person she can possibly be. An underlying principle of pastoral care is that each student is an individual with particular needs.

Pastoral care is at the heart of the College. We work vigorously to achieve this in all areas of life at St Saviour's College.

Each year, Youth Empowerment Leaders are elected from within the student community to assist in pastoral care role.

Our 2011 Student Empowerment Leaders are:  Sarah Kingston, Hannah Topp, Katelyn Norris, Kathleen Fresco, Lauren Greendyke, Bree-Ann Pennels, Brittni O'Kane, Zeonii Cooke, Lauren Hickling, Christie McIntyre, Tiarne Morris, Laura Paige, Rachel Hohn, Felicity Lostroh and Josephine Krautz.
